Dusu Mali Band was started in Portland, Oregon by Ibrahim Kelly, a native of Mali, West Africa, and nephew of the famous African blues singer and guitarist, Ali Farka Toure. Dusu plays original music and reawakens traditional songs into a fresh new scene. The music is inspired by the lives of everybody involved, and typically culminates in high energy shows packed with dance grooves and fast drumming. The heartfelt warm spirit of the musicians shines out freely and clearly to the audience, giving both groups the Timbukfunk healing release they need to stay alive and happy in this world we live. Long term goals include the Festival Au Desert in Mali, a Hawaiian islands tour, and Brasil 2014.
